Exercise proper caution during fresh air activities and watch for ticks

L L Bean currently has twice a week a teaching moment, a presentation which helps prepare a person to enjoy wilderness excursions or simply a day in the park. Thursday evening in the beginning of June Derek Gieschen explained the etiology of Lyme disease and other aliments where the tics (Ixodes ) functioned as the vector.

Derek described and explained how to reduce exposure to ticks and remove them if encountered. His presentation introduced various products both man made and natural that ticks do not like or even deals them a fatal blow.

Other presentation topics are: Hiking, Backpacking, Camping, kayaking, canoeing, archery and the list continues. The presentations at their store have been free, while the participatory events normally have a fee. Check their web site at for greater details.
